Cystic Fibrosis is a disease passed down families and it is a sticky mucus to build up in the lungs , digestive tract , and other areas in the body. None of Melody's friends in school has this disease but it should be studied. This image shows the effect of it on someone's hand.

1) Is it a physical or Mental disease? Cystic fibrosis is a physical disease , which pass down through families. 2) What causes the disability? Is it genetic? A defect in the CFTR gene causes cystic fibrosis (CF). This gene makes a protein that controls the movement of salt and water in and out of your body's cell. Yes it is genetic because it pass through more than one person in the genes. 3) What are the conditions of this disability? Cystic fibrosis is a genetic condition in which some parts of the body like the lungs and the digestive system become clogged with thick sticky mucus. a) What ABILITIES does the person have? A person with the Cystic Fibrosis is normal like any person but has some disabilities. b) What DISABILITIES does the person have? The disabilities a person with cystic fibrosis have are hard in breathing and digesting food. C)How can someone with the disability be treated? This disability or diseases could be treated by :
4) How many people have this disability? This disease is most common in the Uk. Over 8,000 people has this effect and over 2 million in the UK carry the faulty gene that causes cystic fibrosis. So it is around 1 in 25 of the population. If two carriers have a child, the baby has a 1 in 4 chance of having Cystic Fibrosis. 5)Are there any famous people with this disability? Yes there are lot's of famous people who has this disability and on of them are Elbert Einstein. 6)How does the disability affect communication? The cystic fibrosis effect communication between the child and his family because the energy precluded carrying on activities with each other and with the children ; and there was breakdown in their ability to communicate between themselves an the children regarding important family issues. |

3. Is there any special device or medication to help people with this disability to learn and communicate better? Yes there is a lot of machines to store air in your lungs as well as the medication is available from the doctors , and every person is being medicated on how strong it is. |
